Yes, the 2DS is Real

Is the 2DS real?

Yeah, it is. Nintendo announced it today along with a surprising Wii U price cut. Here is the official Introduction video from Nintendo.

Why in the hell did Nintendo make the 2DS!?

Imagine a standard 3DS laid all the way flat, and with the depth slider all the way down, everything else is there in the system.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime explained to IGN
It's very simple. This device is targeted at little kids who can't use the 3D features of the 3DS because it might hurt their poor little undeveloped eyes. The thing also doesn't fold because I'm sure you might have noticed kids that do have a 3DS often times break it and it becomes all floppy. The 2DS has durable design which will survive many many drops.

Price

The 2DS will cost $129.99, which is a really good deal if you ask me.

Release Date

Nintendo 2DS will be available October 12, 2013. Surprisingly, it is not listen at Amazon.com yet.

But it's weird looking!

It will grow on you. After some time you might even like this one better. It's like an upgraded Gameboy Advanced if you ask me. Seriously though, even though it is intended for kids, it might be better suited for hardcore players as well. If you ever get to hold one, I'm sure you will notice the difference.
