How the Internet Ruined Smash Bros.

I was originally going to call this post "How Nintendo Ruined Smash Bros." but after thinking about it further I realized it wasn't Nintendo's Fault at all. Super Smash Bros 4 has been royally ruined by the internet.

A few days ago there was a reported leak of the entire roster. Now, I don't know if its true, I didn't even bother to look at it because quite frankly I want the game to surprise me. I want to be playing and then suddenly discover a new fighter!

I want to experience for myself you know, like "Wow, they got him in?! Wow." And then I get to fight the new character and as I fight him be like "Wow, cool moves--oh that one's from that one game, cool... wow."

Now we're all gonna know of every single character in the whole game before we even play it.

It's not like the good old days anymore

Back when I first got my hands on Super Smash Bro. Melee it was a whole year before I discovered Mewtwo was actually in the game! Can anyone honestly say that about Super Smash Bros. 4? No way.
Nintendo has tried to surprise us though. They tried to make it a surprise when they unveiled Pac-Man as a playable character. Nintendo had posted a trailer on YouTube titled "Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U Red, Blue, Yellow" and the thumbnail was just three stripes, red, yellow, and blue on a black background. They even disabled the comments. In a perfect world you would've seen the video on your feed then clicked on the video and been pleasantly surprised to see that it was a character reveal trailer of none other than massive gaming icon Pac-Man.

Is this going to be the best fighting game ever?

Yes.

A surprise is all about presentation. Nintendo tried. It was a good try. Unfortunately we all found out about Pac-Man the same way. Through social media. Most likely all those gaming websites we're all subscribed to. Or Jerk friends.

The mother of all leaks

Okay, half way through this post I looked at the leak, I couldn't help it. This video was on my news feed. Of course, now I have to make you watch it, it's only fair. Honestly it got me more excited for the game.

It's hard to believe Bandai Namco could get so many characters in the game. There is a good chance the leak may be fake but either way I am sure this Smash Bros is going to be better than Brawl.

What about you, do you hate having every game spoiled nowadays?

PSA: The leak is fake. Proof inside.
